The Establishment of
PlayScope
In Chinese, 「萬象」(eclectic) describes the involvement of a wide variety of contents, objects, phenomenons, and scenes in the world. We are named 「遊戲萬象館」(PlayScope) because we would like every parent and visitor here to see the interesting and meaningful phenomenon of children playing freely in the PlayScope world; to explore and think about the true essence of playing; to feel the happiness of playing.

In English, “ ” can be linked with the word “kaleidoscope” - representing vivid colors; the word “telescope” - representing distant sight; the word “microscope” - representing a detailed view. As such, “PlayScope” allows everyone to see a colorful, more distant, more detailed, and more lively play world.

Besides, the colorful hand-painted spiral pattern of our badge signifies children’s painting, leading us to enter the world of children’s play “from the outside in”. On the other hand, the expansion “from the inside out”, represents our ever-developing knowledge and horizons of children’s play! While the word “Play” in black represents our serious attitude toward play, the colorful word “Scope”, represents the colorful, dynamic, and lively elements of play.

Playworkers
Upon arriving at PlayScope, you must have seen our friendly
staff wearing orange uniforms! They are not security guards
nor merely play companions. They all have a special identity
- Playworkers! Playworkers are responsible for:

Playing Professionally
All Plascope’s Playworkers are holders of a Playwork
certificate. Playwork is a profession about children's play.
In the UK, there is already a fully developed professional
qualification pathway related to Playwork.

Playing in variety
By applying Playwork theories, we are able to observe
children’s play needs. So by adding or removing play
materials, or by applying Environmental Modification,
we assist children to play in various ways.

Playing safely
Since children play in numerous ways, we carry out Risk and
Benefit Assessments frequently to strike a balance between
satisfying children’s adventurous instincts and letting them
play safely.

Playing with enjoyment
The basis of Playwork is to step into children’s shoes and
respect their choices and decisions when playing. We are
more than happy to see them making messes and shouting
in excitement because this is what enjoyment looks like!
